One Compartment Model: Loading Dose And Multiple IV Bolus Doses

INSTRUCTIONS

On the following page, you can simulate results for what happens to the plasma drug concentration of a drug over time for a one compartment model when multiple IV bolus doses with an initial loading dose are given. The model system is NOT at steady state. The initial loading dose constitutes the full first dose of the multiple IV doses.

You need to:

  • Select whether to plot the results on a linear scale or semilog scale. The scale is preset to linear. (You can change between the two at any time: all current results will be replotted on the new scale.)
  • Adjust the loading dose (LD), dose (D), dosage interval (τ), volume of distribution (Vd) and elimination rate constant (k). These are all preset.
  • Adjust the x-axis and y-axis scales if required. (These can be adjusted at any time: all current results will be replotted on the new axes.)
  • Plot the results - up to a maximum of six plots.

You can reset the simulation at any time: the simulation will return to the initial preset values.
