The Trapezoidal Rule

TOTAL AREA UNDER THE CURVE

The total area under the curve is the sum of the area of the trapezoids to the last measured point plus the extrapolated area.

Thus, for the example graph used here:

Total area under the curve = 45.75 + 3.6 mgxh/L

Total area under the curve = 49.35 mgxh/L

The total area under the curve, found using the trapezoidal rule, is 49.35 mgxh/L.
