Pharmacokinetics Simulations

Single Oral Dose - Changing The Elimination Rate Constant

INSTRUCTIONS

On the following page, you can change the elimination rate constant and plot the results to show plasma drug concentration over time. As the elimination rate constant changes, see what effect this has on the peak plasma concentration, when the peak is reached and whether changing the elimination rate constant affects how fast the plasma drug concentration decreases.
You need to:
  • Select whether to plot the results on a linear scale or semilog scale. The scale is preset to linear. (You can change between the two at any time: all current results will be replotted on the new scale.)
  • Adjust the elimination rate constant (k).  NB: Setting the constant.
  • Adjust the x-axis and y-axis scales if required. (These can be adjusted at any time: all current results will be replotted on the new axes.)
  • Plot the results - up to a maximum of six plots. (Example observations will be available after the sixth plot.)

You can reset the simulation at any time: the simulation will return to the initial preset values.
